  • Pivoting to DS may be the better long term move -although you probably need additional schooling to do so (consider a DS bootcamp)

  • I’m not sure how you can compare both. Salesforce has become widely use but it’s still just a software. With any software skill you’re pigeonholing yourself to only work in that specific software. If you want to go somewhere else you will have to learn a new software. Some skills may be transferrable but not all. You may be paid at lot but the cap is way smaller than Data science

With data science every company has some kind of team that’s doing something with data. Whether they’re building data pipelines, build dashboards/reports or creating models for some kind of product. You have a much larger scope of what you can do with DS skills. You have transferrable skills that can be used anywhere that has a database (sql) and any team that’s looking for reporting or building models (R/ python). You have so many industries you can choose to be a leader in with your expertise of those datasets. You’re always going to be valued and even if you decide that DS isn’t for you . You have the skills to pivot into other tech career paths. Your cap is in the millions as you can manage an entire DS group being a driving force of ROI for a company and helping their bottom line
