How to get unsolicited recruiting on LinkedIn

When I signed up for LinkedIn some years back I was fairly active in making connections, endorsing, etc. I would get contacted from recruiters from good companies fairly regularly even though my profile was mostly blank with just my single company listed without details.

Now that I'm open to getting offers, I'm not getting any contacts. What should I do to get visibility to FAANG recruiters on LinkedIn? Should I have a summary of my resume as my profile? Do endorsements matter? Is it worth the effort or should I stick to company portals and personal referrals?

I had it on for about 9 months while taking interviews, no one from my previous company said anything.

@qualcomm, had it on for the last month. Some interest at first from companies I'm not interested but it'd died down. Maybe just the holidays though.

At this point I don't care if Intel sees it, only squeaky wheels get the grease. Tired of getting the 2% raise because they think I'm not going to leave.

  • use resume keyword analyzers for buzzwords :) this one https://www.jobalytics.co/curate?utm_medium=blind&utm_source=comment has a chrome extension to do an analysis on linkedin jobs and also sends you job recommendations from a bunch of different job boards. good luck!

Thanks @Tesla, yeah I'm going to start harvesting buzzwords from job postings and make sure they're in my resume/profile.

I wouldn't think referrals without actually knowing the person would work well? I do have some former colleagues I have used for referrals for my top couple targets but don't have them everywhere.

At larger companies, it doesnโ€™t really matter how well they know you or not. You get fed into a pipeline with a higher priority. However where having a close relationship with your referral could have more weight, is if youโ€™re being referred to a position in the same team as them, then they could vouch for you.
