I found people saying that it's hard for students to get US internship because of immigration process, what can I do to get one? Is there anyway I can get working visa after I get Internship offer? That being said, I see lot of international students get internships in US. How can I improve my odds? Thank you. ☺️
I’ve personally gone through this process last year. And I can tell you my experience. If you’re just going to apply online without referral, out of around 180 companies I applied to, these are willing to sponsor J1 visa: Google, Palantir, Facebook I was applying from Singapore. Good luck!
Oh my god that's such a small ratio. If I apply via referral, will my chances increase?
Maybe, at least you’re less likely to get ghosted
Should be fine as long as it is a large company. They will have resources to sponsor j1
While crazy stuff happens all the time, why would a company bother with interns from overseas, especially in the current immigration system? Unless you're obsessed with the hyped US companies, you could keep trying, but your plan B (or maybe plan A) should be to find work at similar companies in your region. At the time of hiring, people look at the experience, and not where you acquired it. Even if you intern at a Biotech in Singapore or France, it would teach you what employers anywhere would find valuable.
Yes you are right, I will keep on trying for US and look for internship in my area.
Also, will it be easy to get immigration in Europe if these companies have openings there? Because in me region the pay is low for similar work, so I am badly looking to work overseas, doesn't matter the country.

It's fairly easy with a J-1 visa.
First you gotta find a school or research institution...
@apple Not really. Some companies sponsor J-1 visa. It is more common than you think.
