FYI and first of all "I am Indian", so this is not a racist post...but a post about pain point (office politics) I work in microsoft, which in my opinion in 90% indians because I mostly see indians in office. I heard from my friends that it's the same thing in Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, Uber and Netflix. I have recently interviewed with palo-alto-network, walmart, roku and I got the same impression from Interview panel, who were mostly Indians, specially the hiring manager 1. Why are Indians in US software companies in such huge ratio, why not americans? 2. Is there a US company that does not have indians in such a huge ratio, specially the managers? Problem with Indians is that they gang up and play office politics, even the managers play favouritism. #engineer #interview #it #microsoft #google #facebook #amazon #apple #uber #netflix
The reason is simple cheap labour
So you are saying. Even within the US, price of labour plays a role in hiring? It doesnt work that way. It's just that indians are more qualified and driven than Americans(in the US)
Yes I agree on that point I am just highlighting for employees in india.
Because hr is spineless. They let indian managers take the final call. So naturally an Indian manager will fill the pipeline with indian engineers.
As long as companies turn profits, why would HR care? It's not Spineless if they don't give a shit
Indians maybe a minority group in US but most of them move for education, primarily Masters. You would notice the demography is not a minority anymore at a college level among people pursuing graduate degree. And more so, Indians pursue engineering degrees much more than Americans. I believe that reflects in industry.
No, if hiring manager is indian he will turn his whole team into Indian
Can Someone reply with company names where there are not a lot of Indians
Apple
Global lending services. Like 15 Indians in a company of 800.
Agreed
if you dont want to work with indians side by side in your team then interview for customer support, helpdesk, marketing, sales, HR, accounting, janitor, or CEO positions
I think it’s time we all accept the reality that if you are at Microsoft, you will see Indians everywhere. Why not come up with strategies to make it work with Indians? I am in the same boat as well - some tips would help 😂 a) Bond with them on common topics and struggles b) All Indians are your brothers and sisters - except when you are in deep trouble, you are on your own bro c) Always watch your back d) No one is going to follow any damn process or write good documentation. So live the wild life! e) Most of them are on VISA, they ain’t going anywhere bro
Also, can you give some examples of politics? Curious to know if I am facing the same 🥲
Same reason you are in IT
They gang up and play office politics even with Indians 🤣🤣
yes, I know...no one gets spared :D
😂
