Wondering if any one of you made this transition. The salaries in Europe(Germany, Poland etc) seem so low compared to USA The average salary here in FANG would be at least 150k USD base(this too is down leveling it). How much would a 150k salary map to in say Frankfurt, cologne, Krakow, tettnang etc.? @microsoft, @amazon, @google
Which level ballpark is this?
Glassdoor data us scant.
Depends if you want to work to live or live to work.
50k at most is too low. I'd say 70-100k for experienced devs in good companies. Faang can be higher
Don't go to Europe too low tc. If you want to experience different cultures without moving just live in a place like NYC with a lot of diverse people
I work in Japan and we have Europe style TC with US style WLB. I'd go to Europe in a second. I recommend visiting rather than moving here.
Well there are a few great points about Europe. 1. WLB 2. Insurance and health care. 3. Easy PR programs compared to USA. 4. If one is from India, then easier access to home.
1. You can probably get European wlb if you compromise Tc in the USA also. 2. It’s better, true. 4. 10hrs vs 24 hrs is probably not a big difference.
#4 makes a difference between life and death at times. It also makes a huge difference for ageing parents wanting to travel.
Level 62 MS Germany is about 150k€ TC. After Taxes, social security, health care etc. 84k€ not married no kids For Germany you can calculate your net income here. www.brutto-netto-rechner.info/gehalt/gross_net_calculator_germany.php
50k euros at most. If you go to Europe money should not be your goal.
What should the driving factors be?
Work life balance. Learning different cultures, etc. health insurance is almost free and high quality too. I personally prefer the US.
