Got approached by recruiter and I am entirely new to this domain. How is Benchling in terms of TC and growth as an #swe ? Current TC 260K
When I interviewed there back in the past, I vaguely remember how cocky every engineers I have met there. I guess it is typical nowadays.
It’s a very niche market, but maybe/undoubtedly they have bigger plans. Biotech in general pays less, but covid has put a bigger spotlight on the whole industry. In general, biotech software has fewer users/smaller scale but the domain itself is more complex.
If your sole focus is TC aNd growth as a SWE I’d say to look at more traditional software companies. Benchling is basically unheard of outside of biotech
One thing to note is Benchling is not a Biotech company, it is a Saas R&D company that services the Biotech Industry. When you look at all the verticals that compose biotech: BioPharma, agricultural, consumer packaged and industrial goods, Material and Energy, and and diagnostics, life sciences tools and services it is clear that they are serving a high impact industry. Additionally, TC is competitive with the market and when you look at their employees on LinkedIn, they come from high caliber in companies. Who I say all that to say, Benchling is worth a closer look
@Amazon Benchling is competitive with the market we have brought on veteran talent from FAANG companies, Salesforce and more. As for growth we are thoughtful about every hire because we want to make sure their is a team in place to support their growth.
Better than Amazon.
In terms of TC or potential growth? Blink health is still paper money as of now, but I have no idea on how it is doing as a business.
