What kind of salary would you expect for an entry level UX designer finishing up a masters degree (human factors) and a 6 month UX internship?

Imo (and as an ex HM) masters degree graduates are still new grad level, unless they have significant professional experience. Consult levels.fyi accordingly

Depends on location, company size, etc. You’ll probably still be associate level when you start, so conservative guess 75-100k. Could be a little less or a little more depending on a variety of factors.

FWIW - At a big tech co (like Amazon) new hire junior designers are making more like 150k. The masters is a nice add on but isn’t a substitute for experience, so won’t affect comp. Junior positions however are pretty hard to find.

I figured, but how many people get their first job at a place like Amazon? Like you said, probably not many. I feel like a lot of people come to Blind looking for advice, and they only see people who are the mountain top, which is not reality for 99%.

You mean 150k tc right? Not base. Base is like 90-120

Depends on the company. You can check entry level positions on levels.fyi for big tech if you feel confident you can land at one, but competition is super stiff for entry level at those companies
