Google defines it's UX role with a narrower scope and there's a greater divide between design and engineering. You are there to support the engineers. Google does have a design-eng hybrid UX engineer role which seems to get treated more as a first class citizen. FB designers across the board are treated more as an equal stakeholder with greater responsibilities.
FB designers often tell me they feel like the product they are working on contributes a net negative to society. Whereas my Google friends range from indifference to pretty good vibes.
Design ops at FB is more impressive than Google's. Both have a major learning and development programs are available like classes and visual design workshops but FB is a class above Google. I assume its because FB has more prominent design leadership.
FB design interviews are more technically difficult whereas Google's process is cumbersome and drags on way too long. You interview for the design dept at FB whereas at Google you interview for a specific team. Again, it shows the engineering oriented culture of Google. I also hear FB design recruiters are much more pleasant and they have better training in understanding the role.
