Why I left my Facebook design job *the honest truth*
comments
I’m not denying that there’s lack of diverse representation in executive leadership, but I’m trying to be selective about the issues I do get outraged and upset about. I’m not saying it’s not important, I just don’t know how to fix the issue or how my outrage helps.
Devils advocate - Many white men deserve to be in the roles they are in by working hard and making sacrifices. What would you say to them? Would you tell them “oh, you’re a white male, so you don’t belong in leadership because there are too many of you”?
I feel pride really. At least what I'm seeing Facebook feels more like ....you know the smart but annoying kids in class who are right but still piss people off? That's Facebook. Any of the issues are from growing too big too fast and they're working on them better than other companies.
Are you working on B2B product at FB? The team dynamics and the requirement for craft can be very different from product to product.
This is my primary concern with joining a company like Facebook and other mature organizations - unless you're Senior/Principal and/or on an innovation/strategy team, you're likely only making incremental small changes to the product.
But I don't see this is a Facebook specific issue, I think that's true for a lot of non-start up environments.
