What is the UX process for interviews at Google? Best advice for the interview and for portfolio showcase.

Thanks!

Phone screen with a designer. They assess your skills and understanding of UX and if you’re capable of working with cross functional peers.

Then you move on the the on-site phase. Start with a portfolio review with like 5-6 peers/hiring manager.
Then 1:1s through out the day with each interviewer assessing a different aspect: technical skills, creativity, googley-ness

My advice: have 1 really big project you can deep dive on, another you can quickly review in 5-10mins, and a 3rd as a just incase you need to show something different (visual skills, motion, writing, etc)

On your main project, think T shape. Stay broad and high level, keep it very concise in framing it. walk them through the journey, pick one complex problem you solved (simple solutions are great), then end with final results and data/next steps.

Make sure to call out what you did and how you collaborated with others.

Design system stuff: have you worked on and contributed to large design systems, have you created specs for engineering, how do you deliver specs / end to end designs.

How familiar are you with the space your interviewing for: voice technology, form designs, mobile apps, etc

      Knowledge of software and tools
