Recruiter reached out to me about a position and I did a phone screen with lower mgmt but didnt pass. Got another call from same recruiter for a different position. Safety Engineer that could be 5a, 5b or 6. How do they decide on the level? Base salary has a wide range $195k-$250k. Whats up with that?
Range sounds high for L5a. Probably quoted a wide base as they aren’t sure how to level you, or that’s the full range for the level. Not that most people see the top of a level before promotion to the next one, but it does happen. Leveling is partly a function of interview performance and partly a function of what TC they think it’ll take to get you.
