Earlier Uber eats just used to charge delivery + service fee. Now they have also jacked up the menu prices by 20-30% on average. This used to be case with Postmates and Doordash. Who keeps that extra 20% on the menu price? Directly goes to Uber coffers or restaurant? I find it impossible to use it for single person, its almost close to 2.5x of normally what I would pay at restaurant. #tech #Uber #postmates
I feel itās a dying business model.
Have you seen our earnings?
Itās ridiculous, especially when they take city ordinance fees and just pass them on to the customer. The only time I ever use delivery apps now is when I can expense it for work, and even then if I get a $25 budget, ordinance fee of $2-3, mysterious āservice feeā of 20%, delivery fee of $3-5 and tipping the delivery driver means my one single $12 entre usually hits up against that limit.
restaurant set the menu prices.
So mysteriously they all started adding $3-4 to every item around same time? And they have a different price on doordash and different on Eats?
Restaurants give their menu and have a way to control how much buffer they want to add. Uber gets none of it so donāt blame the platform please.
The restaurants set the prices not the platform. Given their contract with the food delivery company ( commission percentage) they change their prices to keep their profits to themselves
So Uber commission is jacked up now? Hence uniformly every restaurant has changed the prices?
We have no control over that. The restaurants set whatever price they want. Some of them jack up the prices on food delivery unfortunately
That's not entirely accurate. For the commission that Uber asks, restaurant is forced to pass that ON to customer else return on effort does not make sense for them.
Some of regular restaurants i order from, requested me to call them to place order rather than using UBER
I only ever use it if they send me promo for $20 off. And even then Iād still rather just go pick up the food myself
They don't send those code for pickup now š
They just sent me one $20 if I spend $30.
