Besides the delivery fee, when you order from UberEats, are you paying more for the food or the menu for each of the restaurants in Uber Eats is the same as going in person to that restaurant?
All of the remaining food delivery places got too expensive for me. I miss Eat24 and Amazon Restaurants. :(
Most of the restaurants markup prices
Why on earth would they deliver food for free?
It’s a ripoff. We’ve got a local guy that does private food delivery for a monthly fee. We pay $40/mo and he gets shit for us no markup. Pays for itself.
Whoa! Which city and state?
Not everybody has a guy to do this for them. Also I’m sure that “guy” doesn’t answer you at your whim and deliver food as and when you need. Delivery prices are pretty reasonable tbh.
Same thing happened with me I picked up pizza and garlic bread which costed me 29 dollar but same when I used DoorDash with dash pass came to 39 dollar without the tip so 10 dollar fee going to doordash
Nope the menu prices are the same, unless the restaurant itself feels like charging more on the platform. Fees are the way we and drivers get paid. Many of our competitors do the opposite: they’ll give you a “$0 delivery fee” but each menu item is marked up.
Thank you for clarifying. 2 questions: 1) So besides going to each restaurants website and checking the prices on their menu, is there another easy way for us to know if the restaurant has jacked up the price in UberEats? 2) where can I see the fees that UberEats charges except for the delivery fee which is indicated on each restaurant selection?
1) not sure, I don’t think it’s something I’ve seen a study on, just something I know anecdotally that restaurants do 2) there are generally two fees, although sometimes one is waived for a variety of reasons. They’re called “service fee” and “delivery fee” on your receipt. Of those fees, driver keeps roughly 85%, Uber takes the other 15%. As you can see, we are taking very little money per transaction, which is why Eats is so far from profitability
Of course! Restaurants mark ups fees and you cant use codes or coupons or promotions. But these apps now are more like slaving workers and paying them shit on the dime.

Depends. Some restaurants markup prices if using Uber Eats/Doordash
