How’s the team? What exactly they are aiming from these products? Uber Cash card, payments, etc. Is it worth joining this team if extended an offer?
How was the interview if you don't mind?
I'm in financial products. I think we have very ambitious goals far out (ex uber payment system, banking and savings, money integrations to go back into the Uber economy ex rides, eats and future upcoming products). Aim would be to get the many people without bank accounts (a lot outside the US actually) onto the Uber system, increase driver retention, save a lot on fees and leverage the money flow. I'm optimistic but a lot of it will depend on execution. Right now, it's moving slowly and there's a lot that could be better organizationally but there's a lot of buy in at the leadership level and I'd encourage you to consider the offer.
Hope that might be helpful
Thanks. This is helpful. What’s your view on the latest quarterly earnings? Is Uber trying to generate the alternative source of revenue to withstand loss in transportation business?
Which group are you interviewing for product mgmt or engineering?
Engineering
I think some guy from Uber covered it. But looks like they have a grand plan for branchless banking. In GS context think clarity - credit cards - checking/ debit - driver loans - deposits. That’s my guess of product launches in that order. But go big on volume but small on size. Something similar to what Ola cabs has done in India. Put Uber products at the center for unbanked and marginally banked population.
There's a hiring freeze at Uber at the moment. You will most likely not get an offer. Sorry.
Yup. Read the news. Thanks!!
Which location? They have some wild stuff in the pipeline that's worth joining through the drama, especially if it's in Amsterdam. I would have pause in the US.
New York.
Also curious what comps are like for this team. any insight?
Standard across the company. NYC, Seattle, and the bay area are should be the same. Use levels.fyi
How is Uber Financial business doing? Any changes in plans given COVID-19? Just curious to know the state.
Right now they're all looking for $5bn
Thanks for prompt response. But, it may be irrelevant to my question.
