I have a friend who recently transferred internally at Uber (from an international office to the SF office). When they got to SF, they realized that their salary is $40k-50k lower than most people on the team at the same level, so Uber definitely lowballed them. Btw their visa is sponsored by Uber. Did they get lowballed because of this? Anyone in HR here? Advice for my friend?
It would be surprising as levels have somewhat narrow salary bands. Assuming your friend is comparing people at the same level.
That’s a price you pay for a better opportunity.
HR here, they didn’t get low balled. Comp is very ridged and all based on experience at level. No negotiations. If up leveled, you’re brought in at the minimum. But definitely not low balled because they’re offering sponsorship.
What’s the transfer process?
Does Uber require manager approval for internal transfers?

28 terrorist worshipping idiots just got themselves fired and I've never been prouder to work at Google.
Not much to do besides leave and get a better TC somewhere else.
I should mention their visa is sponsored by Uber, so they can’t just go anywhere else. :/
