Leaving Amazon as I was close to PE but recent leadership changes have set me back by an indefinite time. Would anyone mind telling me exactly what level makes sense at Uber?
I'm the lead for a group of 3 teams, 25ppl and involved in org-level, 100ppl tech direction.
Levels.fyi says L6 is right but Uber calls it Sr Staff and L5b is Staff. Google is considering me for L6. Thank you!
Edit: Very even poll so far but I appreciate the insights from comments :) Looking forward to more data and I'll share any updates I have.
PS: For friends in a similar dilemma, big companies seem ok to overlook YOE for levels if you can justify your role. Zero luck with the upcoming/new-unicorn startups though.
TC: 1.15cr (old)
YOE: 7.5

L7 (old L6) is almost impossible at your YoE.
Yeah, YOE is a red flag everywhere. Just out of curiosity, how far off is the old L6 level at Uber from my current job?
I talked the recruiter into giving me an L6 loop so I guess that's one hurdle over although I'm still wondering if I'm overshooting it. Don't know if they'll downlevel me during interviews though. Mind if I ask your YOE?
