Uber Marketplace Org vs Uber Internal Tools Org
I am trying to choose between a team in Uber Marketplace Org and a team in Uber Internal Tools Org (team that owns the internal phone tool/LinkedIn). Wanted to know more about WLB, impact, visibility, career growth (yoe 1.5), culture, technical opportunities?
Can’t speak for Uber specifically but internal tools is usually not a great place to be except for wlb and maybe culture
You'd be a fool to give up a chance to join Marketplace
Why?
It's where the main action is. Main product facing backbones. Lots of high impact learning chances. Internal tools is well... Internal tools. Nothing interesting going on there. If you have a family and are old go for internal tools otherwise marketplace without a single comment.
Wlb May be bad but you’re at the heart of what makes Uber Uber.

Marketplace is in Bangalore. That city is dying. If productivity tools is in Hyderabad, makes sense for you to go for it. Better life in the city. Also option to move into more interesting eats engineering and payments work as opposed to marketplace.
Career advancement is always best in the long term when you work closest to the heart of the company. At Uber, that’s Marketplace. And literally nowhere is it internal tools 😂

Depends on what you are going to work on. Just deciding based on Org does not make sense. You can have a good career growth in both.
