Does Uber Amsterdam allow remote working? Like working from London? I'm in London are the moment, but like the idea of working for Uber. However, Uber doesn't have an office in London. Anyone else in the similar situation?
no 100% remote work in amsterdam.
No my friend's manager is remote
If you are in engineering, the short answer is no. Flexibility in working from home when needed: yes. Working remotely: this is no across Uber. We’ve found that teams work better when people are co-located. We’ve had a few exceptions in the past and usually the people working remotely were less happy and more likely to leave. Now we make no exceptions across engineering. Another thing to consider is also taxes. Amsterdam has a lot better taxes for expats with the 30% ruling then London, which makes a big difference in net TC. Also, I moved to Amsterdam after 5 years of London (for Uber). Personally, the move was a great lifestyle change. We have a lot of Londoners here. Feel free to DM for questions.
There are some OGs floating around working 100% remote Why keep the caste system? Make them come home or let us work remotely
Yes, OGs (first 50 engineers) were allowed to work from wherever. It did not work out well. All remote OGs doing this left already. JJ, JB. I also worked with a remote OG and it was a lot more difficult because they were remote but the team was in one place. The only OGs I know are working from one of the 10 engineering offices (like PH) Which OG still works remotely? Initials, please?
Fact is London is a tier 1 word class city, Amsterdam is not. Talent suffers massively because of this. It’s also why FB and G have their Eng offices in London.
Amsterdam is 100 the better than London
@lumpydog care to elaborate?
