I was a passenger in my uber ride when my driver rear ended a car. I sustained some facial injuries but nothing life threatening. It was my uber drivers fault. I'm not sure how to take this forward. Is it worth hiring a lawyer for 35% compensation benefit? How long does it take for settlements?
What kind of facial injuries?
Definitely wait and see. You feel fine now but soft tissue injuries can take a while to manifest. Don't settle wait and see how you end up feeling. I know two people that settled prematurely and regret it. It is worth consulting with a lawyer. Don't settle prematurely. I hope you end up being 💯 and have no need for a lawyer.
Please file a complaint with Uber customer service
Fuck that. Lawyer up, son.
If you have real injuries, get a lawyer, and you'll make a claim through driver's insurance. In many cases, they will deny coverage if it's personal coverage being used for Uber. In which case you can sue the driver or sue Uber.
Go to the doctor and start a paper trail no matter what
Document everything. Costs injuries dates times etc. If you decide to move forward with something it makes your life much easier.
If it was minor, I’d just let it slide. Everything in life need not be about litigations and money. Also, if he insurance companies know this and are really good about not over paying for minor incidents.
It’s a facial injury though. op doesn’t need to be the super litigate-y type to expect them to address that. These people (Uber) have insurance for exactly this type of reason. They’ll probably settle without it ever becoming a real legal issue.
Ms-bob, although not intentional, what you said is actually awful advice in general for someone who is in a car accident. It's not always the case, but sometimes a "minor" car accident will end up causing major health complications later on. This was something mentioned to me by a neurosurgeon who has seen this type of "minor" car accident situation in patients. Note, I'm not saying this specific situation necessarily fits the bill, but just in general, you should always seek legal counsel in situations like this to cover yourself if it leads to more debilitating issues later on
