I’m planning to join Uber (if I get offer) but I want to move back to India eventually. Is there a minimum time limit in Uber for internal transfers? Amazon seems to be the only company that doesn’t.
Usually it would be wise to stay in SF office for a year, build relationships and transfer to a more compelling role. Internal transfers otherwise could be low balled.
What do you mean by “internal transfers could be low balled”?
You will get salary reduction to match local market. I am not sure, if your rsu would be cut, but base salary for sure.
6 months. On top of that Uber now has some ambassador program to move to India/Canada. But expect a big salary dip going from US to India.
@CashIn what exactly is Uber ambassador program to Canada? Are they promoting moving to Canada. I was trying to find jobs in Uber Toronto, Canada. Apparently I couldn’t find many sde positions . Please correct me if I am missing something.
It is about making other regions better. U r an expert here. U go there for a period of time and share ur knowledge, etc. At the end u can choose to stay there for long term. Currently opened for India and Canada I think. Only read through it briefly.
How about Microsoft. Was there a time there ?
Not any more. 6 months is “recommended” but not required.
Ok good to know. Was planning to take an internal transfer. Thanks for the info.
