So I see few folks from Uber are posting jobs for software eng. this is after recent layoffs. To be fair, anyone who has worked at Uber especially earlier it would have been a fun intellectually stimulating ride. Many smart folks joined them then. But now after knowing about 3 layoffs and more to come probably as Uber doesn’t make money, are u guys still looking to join Uber? I know few folks who joined 3 months ago and got cut in recent layoffs. Again this is not to say Uber work might not be exciting. I am just curious to see what ppl are thinking as fear of layoffs is not a good thing. My company had start of this year and trust me ppl who were left were always fearing getting laid off in future.
As long as Uber makes top-of-market offers, folks will continue to apply. Nobody thinks they're below average.
Dara is a shit CEO. Granted, Travis has a lot of growing up to do and should have stepped down. I think we are just going through a really big identity crisis and soul searching at the moment.
Uber didn't make money before either, it's a startup and layoffs always had a reasonable likelihood. I dont understand the surprise. In general, the 10 year market boom has made people take the security of their fat paychecks for granted.
