Both Seattle. L4 Uber, L5 Amazon. Current Level at MS: 63 (just got promoted) YOE: 6 Amazon - L5 - Good Cash first 2 years. Bad every other aspect and long term. Base: 151 Stocks: 105 units (5, 15, 40, 40) Joining Bonus: 80K year 1. 60K year 2. Yearly refresher: Nothing until 2021. Uber - L4: - No gains first year. Good long term. Base - 151 Stocks - 7K units (25, 25, 25, 25) Joining Bonus: 50k over 2 years (25/25). Yearly refresher: 52K Considering all other benefits including yearly hike, yearly perf bonus, free food, free commute, fitnesses etc. what would you recommend? Short term Amazon seems good because my pay check is literally doubled or at least 1.5 times. Long term Uber seems better because of yearly refreshers, stock appreciation etc.
If you are moving out of ms. My 2c would be also consider wlb. I'm not sure about uber but again is a huge downgrade
I don't think Amazon one is good, base is the same or less than 63. 105 unit is not a big number considering your unvested RSU and SSA last year. They don't have cash bonus and regular RSU refresher
Go with uber .. Will have better opportunities.. Long run is very important..
what's your YOE
Only comment I would make is Uber outpacing amazon in stock appreciation is very speculative...definitely a possibility if everything lines up properly, but if lyfts IPO is any indication it’s definitely not a certainty
To be fair, Uber is an international company, Lyft has almost no presence outside of the US
Agreed; Uber is definitely better positioned than lyft but to assume that Uber’s stock is going to outperform Amazon is a risky bet imo
