I am an student interviewing both for SWE intern positions at Uber and Databricks in Amsterdam, with the idea of staying after as a full time employee. Since so far I am doing well with interviews I am starting to think what company to choose supposing that conditions are the same. Databricks is smaller and seems to have many smart people and the projects that they are working on fit my interests. However, I wonder if Uber is more prestigious for my CV and is better to take it as my first full time job. Moreover, the Uber role would involve working in a research team what can be exciting and open me opportunities for research roles in the future. Any advice in the comments or by chat is highly appreciate it!
Databricks
Thank you for the advice! May I ask why do you suggest it?
Databricks
Databricks
Uber was my morning time with you today and I wanna know what I can do for itself to be pleased
Blind hates Uber right now because their stock is falling and they potentially won’t become profitable ever. Nobody knows If this is true or not, but they have been having layoffs, so that’s something to be very wary of. Currently, Lyft is the new Uber for SWE. I say take Databricks, I hear there’s really smart people there and that their interviews are really difficult.
Interviews are leercode easy medium... for data bricks
Oh that’s good to know, Just going off what I heard.
Databricks. 💯.
I would go for Uber if you are new to the industry.
Databricks is much better and much more elite / prestigious at this point for your career.
Also within Europe is more prestigious? In my opinion it seems elite but probably is only known in the Bay
Some of Europe’s largest tech companies are Databricks customers.
Op, how many interviews you passed? I am also in process with databricks amsterdam
Software engineering? Data science? Research science?
SWE
Databricks is expanding heavily in Amsterdam. Even if you don't do an internship with them, you will probably get an interview opportunity with them when you look for a full time position later. Having Uber on your resume definitely looks better compared to Databricks.
