Last night I experienced UberEats app delivery fees gone wild. Most were $18-20. Restaurants went unavailable as a result too. The fees also changed every few minutes (I managed to pull it at 8.49 after refreshing a few times). I understand why fee can go up so no need to explain that to me. At the same time I downloaded Doordash to see how it behaves (never used it before). Fees were around 3.99 and 5.99. Even with hidden fees it still looked somewhere 5 bucks cheaper than Eats. Questions for people who use/know Doordash: 1. How is Doordash’s delivery quality? My experience with Eats is that it’s super reliable. ETA is excellent, tracking in app works really well and is constantly improved. 2. How can Doordash keep such a low delivery fee? Imagine the couriers can sign up on any platform and be online on multiple, how one platform experiences surging while other doesn’t? Different demand (aka dd has much less demand) or subsidizing?
In New York we have seamless and most restaurants have no delivery fee. Minimum order size between $5 and$15. Thank the massive fleet of bike deliverymen!
Any chance you're in NYC or Midwest? Winter is intense. Could be reflected in delivery fees.
Nope I’m in SF.
I'm in SF and I've never seen such high fees on Eats. Where in SF are you?
Doordash sucks balls
no u
Go fuck yourself ...useless moron kids.
Doordash is more reliable than Uber Eats ime
Haven't tried Uber eats, but I'm fairly content with door dash
Revenue is not just from consumer fees. All these companies get commission from the restaurant too. If commission rate from restaurant is higher, consumer fees will be lower, doesn’t matter what the demand-supply situation is. Also DoorDash reliability is very high. We are the fastest growing in the space, that can’t happen if reliability is low.
Uber Eats is better by far.
Uber Eats ate my order after 1 hour delay yesterday!
Every DoorDash experience I had was extremely bad. Everything from hours late, missing food, food upside down and spilled out of container into bag, fees that are insane etc. every Uber eats experience I had was extremely good, fees are supply and demand, so if you are price sensitive just get lunch at 11 instead of 12, and you can watch as the driver is approaching your house. Give tips etc if the driver was good, the experience is so much better.
Sorry to hear. If you DM me with your email I’ll add some credits to your account so you can give us another try.

I hate those hidden fees from DD or other services
For some reason, even after that they manage to be cheaper than eats. Especially for distant restaurants
There is price markup as well as service fee usually
