Uber worth joining now?
I am expecting an offer from Uber (SF). Can anyone joined recently tell how is the work culture and morale of employees! And what's compensation range for L4? TC 170k

Get ready to be tossed around every couple months or so. If you're ok with the volatility and shitty work then it's probably a good time to join.

Shitty work is absolutely true.
Toxicity comes from middle managers and up. The individual contributors at Uber are actually quite good. But managers are politicking away trying to cherry pick ways to show impact etc. This manifests itself in constant changing priorities, 15 work streams going at the same time even on small teams because people can’t prioritize, people not helping each other because they only care about their specific metric. Its super draining place to work.
Depends on the team/product you’re working on. You’ll be okay if you choose a growing/new division of the company, avoid projects with tech debt, and be prepared to advertise yourself and your contributions
So many ppl trashing uber, feel like I had to speak up. I’ve been at Uber many years, still enjoying it. I don’t deny there might be some bad teams, every company has some right? But I hate people generalizing it to the entire company. Over the years, I’ve worked many many teams, from different functions . I’ve never encountered anything close to being “toxic”. If you do get an offer, ask recruiters to schedule meetings with the hiring team, both managers and ICs, feel for yourself. You know, negative voices get really loud on Blind. Use your own judgement.
