Poor ol’ Roy Moore gots to put on his little cowboy hat and little leather vest, holster his little silver revolver and ride off on his little pony to wherever disgusting old racist homophobic pedophiles go.

So much winning!

As a conservative, I’m happy about this for two reasons: Moore was kind of creepy, and the media and democrats (sorry for the redundancy) subsequent screaming for his expulsion, had he won, is now averted. Plus, this seat is up for grabs again in 2020 upon which Alabama will elect a republican of good standing.

Once again, allegations destroy a career. It is a dangerous world we live in, guilty when accused. All it takes is paying off 5 or so women to ruin a man.

Youre missing my point I think. I would never vote for him. Id also never live in Alabama. But due process applies to everyone.

What happens if 3 women all accuse a manager at msft of rape? Guarantee he is let go on the spot. Guilty until proven innocent.

What happens in an employment dispute isn't governed by the criminal law. It's a civil case. If it goes to court it will be decided on a balance of probabilities basis and/or the reasonable person test. It would not be decided on proof beyond a reasonable doubt, that process isn't used for employment law.

Due process for an election is also not the same as due process in a criminal trial.

In an election due process is the media making all the information available and letting people judge what they believe. Most people would go with whoever they think is more believable in deciding their vote, Roy or his accusers? That's a balance of probabilities standard.

In a criminal trial we require a much higher standard of proof than that. The cost of losing a criminal trial isn't merely losing an election or merely losing a job, it's losing your rights themselves by being locked in a prison or worse, executed.

So it's very different. Don't ask for due process in an election debate or an employment process and then point to the due process used in a criminal trial. That innocent until proven guilty process isn't relevant to either.
