I have been living in the Bay Area (San Jose west) for 5 years in the same neighborhood.
This year, I started noticing that there are more sketchy people, especially in the supermarket parking lots and public parks.

      It depends on where in San Jose, agree. There are areas on top of Silver Creek where all you see are Escalades and Bentleys. Gated communities. Rose Garden, areas near Willow Glen, etc. Is it Palo Alto? No. But it was great back when we were commuting and I had a 10 minute drive to work. Now itโ€™s less desirable. More poverty, mentally ill, trash on the street, dumped furniture, etc. Trashed.

    You should visit the place between downtown and the sjc airport. Thatโ€™s safe heaven for hobos. They randomly start fire there

      Then whatโ€™s a good place to live in the Bay? Genuinely asking since Iโ€™ll be moving there in a monthโ€™s time. Heard Oakland and downtown SF are shady af too

      Try either good parts of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale(suryanagar), MV, PA or trivalley.

    2 things - How expensive is your area? ; Are you near freeways/commercials spaces? It is getting sketchy but main reason is that pandemic created a more imbalanced environment that pushed folks in lower strata financially to commit crimes.

      not sure how expensive it is but I guess it was ok to live, now I'm a little afraid to walk in the evenings, I'm like 5 min driving away from Caltrain
