I’m working as an IT Field Engineer and I’m being paid $21/hr. I possess over 4 years experience an Associates in IT and a Bachelors in IT with a concentration in Networking and Telecommunications. Based on market value I should be earning $30/hr but my bosses are giving me the run around and pulling excuses about it. The past 3 months I’ve stepped up and increased my workload because we hired someone that couldn’t handle the work and I have more than proven myself and tried to ask for more work to do and get involved in more projects. Is there anyway I can tailor an argument that makes it harder for them to make excuses? Or just any suggestions in general to help me secure a raise? Thanks! :)
They'll only pay more for the position of they need to. You can show they need to by finding a different employer that will offer you more. But at that point it's best to go with the new job even if your current employer will match because there is a chance they still don't think you're time is worth the higher amount and are just paying you it until they can find someone who can replace you for cheaper.
Find another job ... you are wasting your time and selling yourself short ... all the best
Thanks! Currently searching and trying to get into Network/System Administration
Find another company! Unfortunately if you aren't willing to leave, they have no motivation to have a different conversation with you.
I’m already looking. And might have an offer after a second interview with one company in Boston.
Good luck!

Gotta go where the money is
21$/h is an insult. You know that you’re subject to overtime rules? Anything under the threshold can be report UN for human rights abuse, you can claim a refugee status in Canada
