Been working for an educational tech company (central Pa) for a few months and the salary was supposed to be negotiated at 3 months. I haven’t set up the meeting yet because I want to know how much to ask for. So I’m a videographer and work within the marketing dept mostly. They had an expectation of creating 2 videos per week and to have to hire a video consulting company for my on boarding. So in my first week, I made 10 videos and expressed that the consulting company might not be needed. They said they had already paid them but after a few conversations with the consulting company, we switched our strategy to a higher level plan. After about 3 months I’ve created over 40 videos for the company and have put into place a vast amount of video marketing strategies and systems. I’ve generated about 10k views on our videos in organic traffic (not a single ad) and put into place to YouTube channels that have strategies, schedules, and incredible potential. I’m getting paid 38k annually right now. I’m also only 23, but I do have over 5 years of experience because I worked full time in my field even during college. I want to ask for atleast 45k. Thoughts? I love the company but I have a mortgage and a life I want to finance and save for. Would I get paid more for my work somewhere else? Thanks!

Ask for $50k. You need to calculate your worth based on market to know what to ask. How much would It have cost then to make the videos by hiring out and what do these videos earn them. Also what’s your BATNA if they give you $40k
To be honest, And it sucks to say but I’d start looking for new places to apply. I love my job, but there’s a certain income I’m looking for so that I don’t have to freelance and 38-44k really isn’t what I want, and where I see the value of my work. And great points about how much it would cost them for hiring out, that helps a lot!
