Understanding more about the PIP at Amazon

Can someone talk more about the PIP? How is it affecting you for applying to other jobs? I mean assume you are not on the visa so you might have lots of time to explore other companies. Is it like something other companies can detect or find out through background checks or something like that?
I understand if you are on a visa, then this is a nightmare. Also how common is PIP in RS and AS roles? I have heard bad stories about SWE and SDE. Any feedback would be appreciated.

It’s always you vs the rest. Not you vs your goals.
Stacked ranking is suppose to cut the fat.
At amazon they way the implement stacked ranking is that they cut the muscle and replace it with fat.
Amazon is getting obese, that is why the stock is tanking.
Only mistake in my career was accepting Amazon offer, they use pip fear to force engineers do shitty ops works which is a waste of engineering talents. Instead of engineering their way out of all these ops work they rather waste their engineer's time and WLB fighting fires. I am seeing the best years of my career wasted here by these shitty engineering culture.
And I can't leave because they backloaded their vesting schedule and if I left before 4 yrs I am leaving too much money on the table.
