Which Canadian BSc university program majors are acceptable for TN Visa "Engineer"category and "Computer Systems Analyst" category?
There is also another category that I’ve seen being used: Computer Systems Analyst
TN visa approval is extremely subjective and you just have to hope the border agent processing you is fair. Engineering degrees in Canada are BASc they dont contain the word engineer anywhere. Even though I have an engineering degree I had to show transcript and show courses that had the term "engineering" in the course title.
Could you share a bit more of your experience please. what's your advice for someone whose degree is very related to computer science but the major's title is different. So essentially the degree itself on the degree diploma says Bachelor of Science but on the transcripts the name of the major is different.
dont take advice on here. The big companies usually have good immigration lawyers that will provide all necessary docs and what to say when you get interviewed. if its a startup make them hire a immigration lawyer. I essentially used my transcript and it was enough.
From my experience, any stem degree should be fine
Does the name of the major on the transcript matter?
Well given the title is engineer, you need to have an engineering degree for the TN engineer category.
How certain are you about this? If someone has Computer Science degree they won't be accepted? What about BSc degrees that have many CS courses as a part of the criticulum but have a different name for the major?
Quite certain. If you’re a CS degree holder you go for computer system analyst, you are not an engineer. They will tell you you are not an engineer. If the degree is from an accredited engineering program you will not have a problem claiming you are an engineer.
