I left Amazon to company A. Joined a month ago. I received a great offer from FANG last week and signed it today. I want to leave A ASAP, cause I don't like it, but the manager has been great and exceeded my expectations. I'm planning to tell him that I'm leaving. If he asks, should I name the new company? Should I say the new offer TC? If not, how should I answer those questions? (The level is higher, the TC is higher and it's FANG). Need professional and urgent advice as I'm running out of time. Thanks
Just be honest and tell him u got something you are really passionate Say he has been nice and you enjoyed ur time with him, but you have to move on I would not provide details of new offer
This.
If the manager is as swell a person as you say, they should know (and you should reiterate) that you’re leaving the co, not the manager.
Don't you feel disingenuous joining a company only to leave a month later? Why not just wait until you hear back from your remaining interview loops before signing an offer? This whole situation could have been avoided, and you wouldn't have wasted your manager's time spent ramping you up.
I waited a long while, but they're slow and I didn't want to lose everything in case I get rejected. So I waited as long as A let me and had to accept it.
You can always say, "I am still waiting to hear back from another interview, I will let you know once that happens." 99% of companies will not rescind your offer.
No need to provide details on the new offer unless you expect them to match (and will accept the match when offered). Tell your manager you enjoyed his leadership but the job is just not what you want to do so you are going to take time off to figure out what you want to do next.
You don't owe him anything. Don't tell the name of the new company. Don't put company A on your resume or LinkedIn. Wait at least a few months until you add the new company to your LinkedIn profile.
Why do you say wait a few months before adding the new company? (Considering the fact that I haven't and won't add A anyways)
In case somebody from the current company badmouths you to somebody from the new company before you have built enough reputation with new colleagues for the new company to ignore what previous employers may say about you.
Leave now. Or leave after 12 months.
No need to provide any details if you are 100% sure you want to leave. Any info collected by your manager will typically be used to attempt to retain you (but probably not when you’ve only been there for a month). So if you are leaving regardless, there is no need to share any info. You can say it’s confidential, and that you will share with them after you’ve joined the team.
Don’t share the company name. He could try and sabotage you through people he knows in the new company.
In cases like these would the person ever be able to come back to A in future?
Take your manager with you

Best LCOL or MCOL city?
You can tell him the name of the company, or not. On every other question answer that it’s confidential and you can’t disclose it.
