I gave my notice, and got a counter offer(did not expect it). Should I use that counter to re-negotiate my offer with new company? I already signed the offer letter and have a start date at the new company

Current TC :170
TC at new company is the same. However I am switching because of the future career that I want.

I actually just went through this, Amazon had offered me a position with a TC of 270k in Austin and I never expected the game studio I work for to make a counter offer, but they did and even beat out Amazon in TC.

So I went back to Amazon, having already signed the paperwork with them, and backed out. They approached me to see if we could renegotiate, they did come back with a higher TC but the role was worse for my resume over my new job title and responsibilities at my current company so I declined and am staying put, albeit, with a near 3x increase in TC.

Don’t stay for more money. If they offer a promotion and more responsibilities then you’re adding value and can stay otherwise you are just an increased expense

Agree with NXP. I did that mistake and had to leave the offer (of course for a competing/better offer but I had to leave my no1 preference)

It depends why you went looking in the first place. No amount of money will fix problems with management, work/life balance, culture, etc.

Always renegotiate. It’s hard and super awkward but it is worth literal millions of dollars over your working career to fight for this.

It is important to couch it correctly.

      “Pay up fools hahaha!”

      Vs.

“My current company has countered with $x. I love your company but my current company is paying more. What options do we have?”
