I have 1 YOE as a SWE at a small company and was referred to Meta. I was rejected immediately for the roles listed as part of the referral (fair enough given the "minimum requirements" for the postings), however I am now in conversation with an internal Candidate Channel Advisor (not exactly a recruiter, more like the step before a recruiter) who is tasked with helping me find the role(s) at Meta I have a shot at getting interviews for. They said that because I am more than 9 months out from my college graduation (May 2020) I cannot be considered for anything listed as "University Grad" (0+ YOE). They also said I won't be considered for any role which has > 1 YOE listed in "minimum requirements". The catch is that there don't seem to be roles with 1+ YOE listed in "minimum requirements" (I haven't gone through all SWE roles yet, but a good amount). Even the Rotational Software Engineer position asks for 2+ YOE. This makes it seem like one can get hired with 0 YOE or 2+ YOE, but not with 1 YOE. Are the "minimum requirements" really adhered to so strictly? Is it more a function of how many experienced applicants Meta gets than adherence to a specific YOE threshold? Why do companies have an exclusive track for new grads?
Asking so that I can be smart about which roles I ask to be put forward for, optimizing for getting an interview.
Edit: This advisor also said I have to meet ALL minimum requirements to come close to be considered for an interview. I am focusing on YOE because for the majority of Meta job postings I see that is where I fall short.
