Ux Research Facebook

PHD intern just received an offer to return to MPK after graduation. 120k base, 70k stock, 20k bonus. Thoughts? This seems low!

  • I always thought the base for ux researcher @fb is around 160k.

In that case I would heavily consider towrads yes and towards no at the same time, and since that sounds quite stupid I'll do my best to explain.
Yes - Fb will look GREAT in your resume and 3-4 years over there along with your phd will definitely seal a c level for your next position salary is not the highest but will triple (maybe even more) in your next position (if you'll be able to sell yourself nicely)
No - Fb is a demanding environment, matter of fact you might feel as if you never left the acdemia in terms of responsibility obligations etc (in a WAY higher pace then most other places) considering phd in hand, it would definitely be safe to say you might get a higher salary with a healthier work life balance somewhere else.

      So yes and no... =)
Last time I was looking for a new place I made a pros and cons table for every offer I got (and kept interviewing even after signing) since in the end of the day no one knows what you want the most better than... You.

Disagree with others, offer seems in line. Non-SWE (but still core) is usually 75-85% of SWE TC. Maybe try to negotiate a bit more on stock.

Not sure about research roles but that sounds lower than bachelor/master SDE new grad in Amazon a few years ago.
