I may accept an offer from DoorDash if it’s extended. I’m tired of Amazon, so it’s tempting to me.

I am curious how flexible is DD for internal transfers to different job roles unrelated to your current role if you have the skills to do it. For example, you’re in sales, but want to become a program manager or UX designer, etc.

  • I see a lot of cross function transitions, swe to pm, ds to pm, pm to ops, ops to pm, design to pm, sales to ops. Mostly adjacent roles but many examples for people who have performed well in general. All teams are hiring aggressively so if you are competent generally people want to fill roles and internal transfer is less ramp

Hi askdd, Does a new DD employee need to wait for a period of time before applying for internal transfers? And does this process need to notify your manager first?

      OP
I can handle working a bit extra for now. I already do it at Amazon, but that is not the main reason I’m leaving. The toxicity and terrible Amazonian culture is why I don’t want to be there. The WLB for DD is not ideal, but the rest of their numbers blow Amazon out of the water. At least I probably won’t dread going to work every day. I plan to work up towards Google or some good unicorns eventually.
