back in the mid-2000’s top talent was drooling over 2 places: google and goldman. then 2008 hit. goldman got through it quite ok, but following backlash became just a bank. and as just a bank, they stopped lot of hft stuff and started moving all their jobs to India. today, top talent in finance is limited to hfts.

Back in 2015 or so I told a Goldman recruiter my comp requirement and he ghosted me. I think I told him $180k. It would be much higher now. Also have multiple ex-Goldman devs on my team now. Don’t think they miss it.
