Goldman Sachs bar?
A recruiter on LinkedIn messaged me saying their bar is higher than google and the work culture is very lax “hoodie and jeans” vibe, with high career growth + comp like in a competitive hedgefund. How bs is this? Yoe: 4 TC: $435k

It does not pay well. The only thing people care about when working for an investment bank, and GS can’t even do that right

back in the mid-2000’s top talent was drooling over 2 places: google and goldman. then 2008 hit. goldman got through it quite ok, but following backlash became just a bank. and as just a bank, they stopped lot of hft stuff and started moving all their jobs to India. today, top talent in finance is limited to hfts.

GS/MBB was every MBA grad dream before 2008 because it had money. Now every MBA grad want to join tech as PM. MBA grads are the most money sniffer class of corporate slaves. They just blindly follow money 💰 💰
Back in 2015 or so I told a Goldman recruiter my comp requirement and he ghosted me. I think I told him $180k. It would be much higher now. Also have multiple ex-Goldman devs on my team now. Don’t think they miss it.
