I have a rich background in cloud transformation and technologies. I had joined VMware recently as Sr EM. The charter i have been given is way below my expectations and doesn't look to help my career goal.I am afraid I will lose the edge i have on cloud tech if I continue with this charter. What are the options i have here ? 1. Quit VMware 2. Will a 1:1 with directors help with to meet your expectations in same CIBG group 3. will VMware support me on this remediation I appreciate any help from this #engineering #software #swe community
By charter i meant the product or technology of my liking and yes it is the first one. Not sure if the switch also applies for Sr EM vs an IC Who in VMware could help on the switch? HR or skip level manager
Is it that you don't have autonomy and it's very low level execution..I talked to them once for their Map Bu and realised sr manager role is just Low level relentless execution handling operational issues and followups
You need to be a abit more detailed on the specifics. What exactly do you mean by “charter below expectations”? Do you not find the exact product/technology area to be to your liking? Or is it simply that you feel the scope and responsibilities of your job is too small for your skill set and experience? If it’s the first, VMware will most likely help you switch to a team which is a better match for your areas of interest. If it’s the second, they won’t do shit. You won’t just get a bigger scope in a new company just because you asked for it. You’ll have to prove yourself.
