How is Horizon Cloud Services group team at VMware EUC BU in terms of challenging work, learning opportunity and culture?
I’m no longer at VMware. Last heard, they’re piggybacking on AWS and IBM into cloud. EUC is one of the laggard BUs.
Yup they are definitely late in the game. But I was hoping to get more information particularly about Horizon Cloud Services.
The BU adds customers often and most on boarding is handled by a service partner. Most larger HC customers are using a services providers. VMware has lacked in this space and has had a rotating door for Horizon Cloud architects. With HC on Azure and now VMC on AWS, the times have started to shift and services are needed for deployment and day 2 support. The HC part of the BU seems to be untouchable which is why the other post say they have issues. We should have shit canned the whole service and started over without the Desktone code, but somehow we allow them to trip down the lane trying to get it right. Not a bad place to be, but expect your job to change on you after 12-15 months with possible growth to your career.
It's def challenging work since they can't get shit working very well. They have yet to get a proper functional public cloud based horizon product that works and is viable.
Yeah VMW is having some issues breaking into public cloud, but On-Prem and hybrid are pretty solid.
