Contemplating offer at VMware for a senior manager in cmbu 250k base 200k rsu 50k bonus 15 yr experience in software Dev Have competitive offer from Twitter, & Nvidia. Twitter is a bit higher but I'm not too keen on it. Also interviewing at Facebook, can anyone suggest comp range for first level manager at fb. Thanks
Don't go, party is just getting started! J kidding, best in your new plans!
Do not come to Twitter. Very bad for career
There are threads saying cmbu is not good BU .. check about that
There are some pretty interesting products there. Business costing. Cloud logging for SREs.
One of my college frnd used to work in that BU but later moved to google, from his words-its a pretty chilled out place and great work life balance
Why not Nvidia ?
How much is annual cash bonus? You are looking around 300-350k tc beyond first year? Congrats!! If you get Nvidia with competitive tc you should join Nvidia imho.
I belong to CMBU and strongly advice you not to join this group. It is the shittiest BU to be in VMware if you are not an engineer. As engineers, one gets to work on some good tech-stack compared to other groups at VMware. But the products are in bad shape and the management is very political and favoritism is at its peaks. Also, since the BU is doing bad, the bonuses, yearly stock refreshes are much much magnitudes lesser than other business unit. All the above may not apply in short term if you are joining Wavefront. Otherwise I hope this information helps you in making an informed decision
CMBU is responsible for vROPs, vRA, vRLI. CPBU owns vSphere (ESXi & vCenter)

In Facebook M1 = E6 in terms of pay. You can search previous blind posts on it. However, M1 is really hard to get greatly exceed or above review so your average pay will be less than high performing E6s.
Thank you for replying. What's the offer range I should ask the recruiter for. I'm highly confident of getting the call next week.
FB will have lower base maybe 200K. RSUs will be higher around 600K over 4 years.
