I am currently on STEM OPT which will expire Feb 2021, I've missed out on the lottery twice in two years and thus next year is my last chance to get approved for an H1B. What are my options if I don't make it? I work at Amazon, if that's relevant.

Or go on F1+cpt by registering courses and reduce work hours to 20 a week (max allowed for cpt)

Hahahaha, thanks OP @ffej_sozeb you see how @cpl used the asylum law example, and in doing that he only confirmed my point about him using tax loopholes that I'm sure he "exploits" himself all because they are there and very much legal. But when a South American applies legally for asylum, oooo that must be exploitation. And thanks @wagecnck3 that was a good perspective. And LOL on crawling out of a vaglna on American soil 😂

I don't get too many tax loopholes because basically employees just don't get those. I fully support closing them.

And yeah, I think a lot of people are abusing the asylum system, for example, the ones who rent other people's kids to gain access to the differential treatment for adults crossing with children. That's abuse.

Much like the consulting companies that spam thousands of incomplete applications just to get wins in the lottery and then complete the winners via RFE's.

True; but only at the final stage of the process. For F1, anything before the AOS filing has no special effect as far as work permit (though on H1-B you can extend permit indefinitely after I-140 approved)

You need a valid visa to extend and stay even if GC is applied. Once your F-1 OPT expires you would have to leave the country. I am curious as to why you are not considering Amazon other locations. Amazon would help you with that. Besides, applying for GC on F-1 means you would not get F-1 anytime in future.

    Apply for Canada PR:

Get your education credentials evaluated, get IELTS / CELPIP test results. This will take 3-6 months. You have that much time to decide whether to apply or not.

If you decide, then you can apply in a week or two, and assuming you’ll get enough points, you’ll get PR in less than 12 months from today (imagine a life of no visa renewals, living as an alien, and being equal to all your colleagues in terms of work auth).

Don’t waste money on CPT schools. It’s a waste of your life’s valuable time.

4 years from landing in Canada as PR you’ll have citizenship and you can work in US on TNvisa.

Focus on having your current job/employer transfarable to Canada.
