I am interviewing for a VP position in Capital One and I wanted to understand what sort of a compensation should I expect in this position at Capital One.

I don’t think Capital One VP is similar to β€œBank VP” positions which typically require less than five years of experience. They have clearly communicated this to be an executive position and the team and role are pretty good.

That's correct. VP at Capital One is actually a legit executive position with several Directors/Sr. Directors under them each with their own orgs.

    • There are both. Customer facing positions (bank branches from what I've seen) will have VP and SVP titles on their business cards and email signatures that usually align back to Manager or Senior Manager internally.

"VP" at a bank is a mid-level position.

A quick heads up about what to expect to find there though, of course:

I think most financial services companies are realizing the need to change their approach to tech. The SVP I would be reporting to is very well versed in technical and academic knowledge. However they do readily admit that the culture needs to be more around learning new technologies.

The new grads can handle that, but the managers tend to be very old school and I've heard it's not uncommon for them to be non-technical.

Also, if the managers can't attract any talent (or they can't get their new grads to stay), they hire a fuck ton of contractors
