1. How is DV WLB @apple SEG.
2. How does growth look like in terms of exposure to different aspects within verification realm like CPU verification, subsystem verification, interconnect etc. OR such as functional DV, formal, emulation, low power etc. Is such move encouraged in DV so that an engineer becomes a 'better engineer' or is such move frowned upon/looked as disrespeting current team?
3. Heard they are also hiring for wireless DV. How are the growth prospects there?
4. Is it easier to switch to different DV team say in 3-4 yrs to become a 'better engineer' as mentioned in point 2?
5. What is the meaning of life :D

Awesome good for you. Would you though recommend anybody in school to do dv rather than software?

nah, software is still king. Hardware only has so many brand name companies and it doesn’t change. While swe get all the $$$ from VCs such as stripe, dash/Uber, coin, etc that are paying on par with FANG. But if hardware is your interest, I can say that pay has finally (almost) caught up. But only for top companies. Intel/amd/QC still need to step up their games.

    1. DV is an intense role at SEG.
    2. You are generally hired for a specific block/IP and there is not much exposure outside of that. Focus is on relentless execution. You are expected to be an expert in one area rather than be mediocre in different areas.
    3. Don’t know much, can’t comment.
    4. Not easy although we are piloting a rotation program where you could go and work with a different team for a few months.
    5. Whatever you define it to be!

DV at apple needs to be more efficient. I grinded nonstop for 2 years and it’s always just repetitive verification on newer ips

    1. Apple DV is constant execution. No real time and effort to develop you.
    2. There’s 2 type of DV, broad knowledge and in-depth specializations. Both are needed depends on what you want.
    3. Wireless is hard, not a lot of companies are doing is so your options are even more limited.
    4. Yes, it’s really easy to switch for DV as long you are good with methodologies like uvm and willing to relearn the new design fields.
    5. TC or GTFO

What do you mean by no effort to develop. Isn't it that on the job you learn and become a better DV. Or you are talking about something specific.

Everything is so deadline oriented, so you don’t have much free time to explore new areas. You can end up doing the same thing for five different socs with limited changes each
