In my 401k account from Amazon, I have following funds: Vanguard Institutional 500 Index Trust Vanguard Target Retirement 2050 Trust Select I want to track them using Google finance's excel function, but they don't have a public symbols. And prices are different from their similar public funds. Is there any way to get the symbols, access their prices automatically, or drive their prices from the public fund's prices?
Find similar funds with same expense ratios, it will be very close in terms of tracking
Are they mutual funds or ETFs? Only ETFs have symbols, generally speaking, that can be tracked like stocks in Google finance or elsewhere.
Mutual funds all have symbols that can be tracked
They don't have symbols and can't be traded publicly, so no. They will move in lock step with the public shares with small variations due to the difference in expense ratios so you can use those as a proxy.
What? Target Retirement 2050: VFIFX 500 Index: VFFSX
Those are institutional share classes, not trust shares. Those would be suitable proxies.
