Hi, I was rejected by Apple after waiting for 3 weeks after onsite. My onsite went pretty well except for one interview that went badly. So wondering how hiring decisions are taken at apple, can it be just one interview (out of 6) be the reason? thanks for sharing
It's hard to know that you did well with others, sorry!
i know because I know my stuff.....some of the other interviews (~3-4) were excellent, some (1-2) very good...but for one i basically didn't answer some of the questions for his liking/didn't understand what he was asking/ or simply said i don't know!
Even if you know your stuff, it's hard to tell for sure. I remember in one internal interview at MSFT, I was sure I had aced my round with a Principal Engineer. Turns out he voted No Hire.
Yes most of the time it just takes one bad interview for rejection, especially if it's with senior eng, manager, or director
he was a senior eng. not only that, for one question he provided the wrong answer, i pointed to him the issue and he just talked his way to the next question.
Put yourself in the hiring team’s shoe, when in doubt it’s safe to go with no hire. One strong no is enough to tank your case. A bad hire will be very costly.
Same happened with me at FB. A senior interviewer gave a no hire. All others went well
Then becomes the issue do you want to work with such person
Well it is my first interview I've two more to go.. So thanks for the advice
Yes it can take just one bad interview. It’s especially true if everyone was just meh about you. That said if everyone loved you and you only messed up the technical aspect of one you might have been fine.
Hence the saying goes “you messed with the wrong motherfucker”
Lol
When I did my on site at Apple they literally had a rejection in my inbox before I sat down on the plane to fly back home after the interviews.
Essentially up to the hiring manager to decide. You need a lot of strong hires to overcome a no hire. Weak hires aren’t going to cut it if you bomb a loop.

I had interviewed with 8 people once. Similarly only one went bad and the other are extremely well. Got rejected one week after.
