I am interviewing at Instacart for a PM role L5/L6. I saw several posts from 2021 that talked about poor work culture, introducing stacked refresher stocks, etc.
Would like to know:
1. How is the work culture now, especially in product org.
2. What is the compensation structure? I was told Base + Bonus + RSUs with TC of $400K for L5 PM and $500K for an L6 PM in Bay Area. I don’t have details on bonus%, stacked RSUs etc.
Currently L6 PMT at Amazon based in Bay Area.
TC: $350k (after recent adjustments)

I am working less than I was at Amazon, enjoying my work more than I did at Amazon (less bureaucracy, more shipping/building), and am (at least based on current value of the illiquid, pre-IPO) being paid meaningfully more than I was at Amazon ($450k total comp relative to previously $250k total comp at Amazon).
There are downsides (more churn, less structure and process, and the equity really is a bit of a question mark as to how much it will actually be worth), but overall it’s felt like a meaningful improvement as far as I’m concerned.
Pros: individual scope + products you can ship, short product develop cycle, collaborative culture
Cons: top down product decision making, chaotic leadership style, no support in project management, reorg every 3 months
