My friend recently completed his LLM degree. Looking for early career jobs in US. Which companies hire fresh law students who completed their masters? What is the best strategy to search jobs in this area?

No one and especially not LLMs. Amazon will hire them in a non-lawyer position. Go to a firm.

Companies usually don’t hire lawyers with 0 years of experience, and that’s why it’s recommended to go to a firm first. That said, if your friend just wants to get his or her foot in the door, there are roles in groups like compliance, privacy and government/regulatory affairs where it helps to have a law degree but you won’t necessarily be practicing law.

your friend seriously studied for a LLM? the number of jobs that ask for one in the US is so minimal he might as well apply to jobs as if he doesn't have it.

I do know a few companies that hire LLMs because they can hire them cheap (85k) and often it's small companies where the GC has a connection to the law school. But it's rare and certainly an exception to the general rule that LLMs should go to law firms if they want to stay in the US.

I know several people who got LLMs and were able to get a job in the US. All of them are at law firms and they all had prior years of experience that was a big selling point in their favor. You mention “early career jobs” so I’m not sure if that means said friend has absolutely no experience at all or just no US based experience. If it’s the latter, trying to land a law firm job would be a good idea.
