Got approached by a Visa recruiter. What is the TC and its breakdown? Saw related posts that say 180-220k but that sounds quite low. Maybe because of title inflation but still pretty low. Plus heard a lead engineer that is below director pay band gets low 200k TC. Would appreciate up-to-date info on this. Role: director of engineering Location: TX or CA
Director at Visa is not well compensated
True, especially compared to FAANG.
It’s because Visa uses Directors as Sr Managers. Director at Visa does not necessarily mean manager of managers.
TX or CA? Location alone should make a difference to those TC numbers. You may make 20% more in CA and yet your standard of living will have to drop if coming in from TX.
The recruiter has positions at both places. I would prefer TX unless there is a huge gap in pay.
Have you cleared interview??
No but wanted to get an idea because the recruiter already had asked for pay expectation and I may want to withdraw if their pay is not up to what I want.
I'm in the same situation for Austin. waiting to hear about TC from recruiter.
Lead engineer as an IC could be on the same level as director over there. It's just one step below director at C1. I've heard hedge funds like to give their programmers titles like VP, but it looks like Visa has about 15,000 employees so they shouldn't have that excessive title inflation
True. Some banks have different leveling from tech oriented structure.
