MSFT folks - any recent experiences with how MSFT handles J1 visa 2yr residency requirement? Currently on F1, have offer and unused 1 yr of OPT + 2yr STEM extension sill unused. Looking for insider experiences at MSFT, I'm very aware of the overall situation generally and problems caused by this visa type.

Email askusimmigration@microsoft.com (general questions) or rite@microsoft.com (j1/f1 questions) and an attorney or paralegal will look at your specific case and give you advice.
I got a waiver for the 2 year requirement but I'm from Europe and there was a well defined process and the people at the embassy who I called told me that everyone is getting the waiver.

You need to get a waiver from your home country. MS doesn't help in any way with doing that. If you dont get a waiver in time and that causes you to be unable to work from the US, MS will get you a Canadian visa and have you work our of their Vancouver offices if your manager agrees. If your manager is not okay with that, you'll need to leave the job.
Thanks a lot, makes sense!
