Current TC:110k

I received an offer from SAP for a Mid level engineer and it seems a bit low:
$121k base
10% target bonus

Current questions:

1. How much are the annual RSU grants? The recruiter said they can’t offer any on hire but managers can grant as part of evaluation each year.

2. What about this “Grow SAP” RSU? How much is that and what is the vesting?

3. Unlimited sick time: is this really a thing? I feel that it would make up for a low PTO bucket they offered (4 weeks).

4. They said I didn’t interview high enough for a Senior position but would be close. Is there a minimum interval for promotions? I’m asking because I’m likely to get a promotion to Senior at my current employer next year and don’t want to put it off too much longer.

What location? Location matters at SAP.

    1. RSU is more common for T3 level. It’s not common to get those all the time. Don’t think of these as “annual bonus”. There’s a soft limit at $30k ish.

    2. Peanuts. 12 RSU

    3. Yes, unlimited. Works in a similar way as “unlimited PTO” that’s really not limited. But if not abused, it’s a good addition to PTO. PTO increases with time to 27

    4. I’m not aware of one. Less than one year would be unexpected.

I hired a new grad in Seattle with a higher TC than this a few months ago. But for Dallas this is less bad. Could probably do better, though. At T2 you likely won't receive any stock in an average year. Probably just during promotion years, but even then maybe not. You need to get to T4 before you can expect stock every year. Vesting is over 3 years, so pretty good if you do get stock. Your recruiter lied when they said SAP can't give RSU on hire. We can, I have done it. It typically needs VP approval, though, since it isn't automatically budgeted for. Yes, unlimited sick time is really a thing.

  • Base seems low for mid level. Had a friend joined after masters for 135k base.
